So I was going to post a book review today…

…but I’ve been laughing too hard at this to breathe or see straight through the tears of laughter.

I don’t know about you guys, but Jim C. Hines now has a new fan. I need to pick up one of his books ASAP!  Anybody read his stuff?  Thoughts?

LOL I love how he tires to dress like the characters on the covers too! Brilliant!

Maybe that cuold be your next competition on here… Entrants have to do a pose from a book cover!

  2. Heather says:

I’ve read nearly all of his books! I love them. His Goblin books are hilarious, written from the view of the goblin, and the princess books are excellent!

Seriously, if you are at all a fan of Grimm’s Fairy Tales, start with the Stepsister Scheme and work your way through the princess books. They’re about three strong women whose fairy tales didn’t necessarily turn out happily regardless of the stories, but they help others in need.

The goblin books are written from the viewpoint of a cowardly goblin named Jig who is thrust reluctantly into adventure when most of his people would flee in order to survive.

So Jess, you didn’t do a book review today, but I hyped up the books. Lol!!!!! Jim’s books are available in e-format as well as paper. (Disclaimer: Blah, blah, Jim’s not giving me money to do this, Blah Blah. *giggle*)

@Nikki-ann — LMAO, me too!! 😀 Oooh, that’s not a bad idea. Maybe for the STO ARCs…

@Heather — Awesome, glad to hear such a glowing review! 😀 Now that you mention the goblins, I think I actually bought one of his books that was on sale as an ebook and never got around to reading it. I’ll have to amend that. *sheepish grin*

Read his Goblin books!!! Especially the first book Goblin Quest will be very recognizable for you as a roleplayer! I totally love it!

I have the first two books of the princess series in my tbr-pile, but after trying to read the first couple of chapters of book 1 I put it back. Might try it again one day as it’s not bad, but just not as funny and heartfelt as the goblin books imo.

  4. I’ve read the Stepsister Scheme and loved it. It’s a great twist to a known fairy tale character. The rest of his series have been in my TBR/TBL list for awhile.

I must have picked up something of his that was a freebie on Amazon. I had a collection of short stories set in the Goblin-verse–they were all great! I’m dying to read one of the actual novels now. 😀 Thanks for the recs, everyone!
